Free Entry: 63rd Maharashtra State Amateur Theatre Competition in Mumbai

The Directorate of Cultural Affairs is set to host the 63rd Maharashtra State Amateur Marathi Theatre Competition at Rangsharda Theatre in Bandra, Mumbai. Scheduled to take place from February 17 to March 15, 2025, the event promises an exciting lineup of 45 plays, all of which will be available for free viewing.
Under the leadership of Maharashtra's Cultural Affairs Minister Ashish Shelar, and guided by the Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister and Additional Chief Secretary of the Cultural Affairs Department, Vikas Kharge, this prestigious competition aims to celebrate and promote Marathi theatre.
The preliminary rounds were conducted across 24 locations, including 23 centers in Maharashtra and one in Goa. The best performances?"plays that secured first and second prizes?"have advanced to the final round, offering audiences a chance to witness some of the finest amateur theatre productions at no cost. Free entry passes are available at Shri Shivaji Mandir, Dadar.
The competition will commence with the play "Panchamved" on February 17 at 7 PM at Rangsharda Theatre. Daily performances are scheduled at 11:30 AM and 7 PM, providing theatre enthusiasts ample opportunity to enjoy diverse storytelling and artistic expression.
With over 1,200 talented artists participating, the event promises a vibrant showcase of creativity, culture, and dramatic excellence. Bibhishan Chavre, Director of Cultural Affairs, has encouraged theatre lovers to attend and support the participants, enhancing their morale while experiencing a variety of compelling performances.
This annual event serves as a platform for emerging artists, keeping Marathi theatre alive and thriving, while offering audiences a unique cultural experience.
