On Women's Day this year, THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES will have its Gujarati premiere. Written by Eve Ensler, the play was produced in India by Poor Box Productions and has had a successful run in English, Hindi and Marathi. Now Picture Perfect Productions and Poor-Box Productions are launching the version with Kruttika Desai, RJ Devaki, Swati Das, Girija Oak, and Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal in the cast. The show will premiere on March 8, International Women’s Day in Mumbai at the G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture to an invited audience, followed by a show on March 9 at the Tejpal Auditorium. The team will then travel to Ahmedabad for a performance at the Natarani Amphitheatre to an invited audience.

According to a note, "Bringing humor and heartbreaking drama, this theatrical smash-hit is based on the true stories of women from all over the world. Co-producer, co-director and actor Mahabanoo Mody-Kotwal says, "When playwright V, formerly known as Eve Ensler, came into my life in 2000, it completely transformed me and my life. Her friendship and this play have been a gift. Through this journey, I have met some of the most wonderful women and men and have witnessed first-hand the massively transformative power of art." She also shared the responsibility of translating the script to Gujarati alongside Chirantana Bhatt.

On adapting the play in Gujarati, co-producer and co-director Kaizaad Kotwal commented,"It is a privilege to be able to bring this play to India for the last 22 years and now doing it in Gujarati is very special. It is especially humbling to see the change that this play has managed to set into motion regarding issues of women's empowerment and ending violence against women and girls."
