11th "National Vasant Natyotsav 2019" By Academy Of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University...

The Academy Of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University in collaboration with the Sangeet Natak Akademi, New Delhi, West Zone Cultural Centre, Udaipur and with South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur will host the 11th National Vasant Natyotsav", a multi-lingual theatre festival bringing plays from different parts of the country from 2nd to 10th March 2019.

The inaugural function will take place on 2nd March at 6.30 pm at the Kavivarya Kusumagraj Marathi Bhasha Bhavan, Mumbai University, Kalina campus. The function will be inaugurated by Ravindra Waikar, Minister for State Housing, Higher and Technical Education. The function will be presided by Vice-Chancellor Dr Suhas Pednekar. The chief guest for the function is veteran theatre director Dr Jabbar Patel. He will be accompanied by veteran actress Himani Shivpuri as guest of honour. Professor Waman Kendre will be felicitated. He is a Padmashri awardee by the Government of India.

The function will be followed by 2nd year students' production of the Academy of Theatre Arts, Mumbai University, titled NISHANI DAVA ANGATHA, written and directed by Dr Mangesh Bansod.

The closing ceremony will take place on 10th March at 6.30 pm. It will be presided by Dr Ravindra Kulkarni, the Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Mumbai and veteran playwright Premanand Gajvi will be the chief guest.

Festival highlights include DAAK GHAR by Kalakshetra Manipur; HAAMID, a musical play by Rohit Verma from Jammu; ANDHAR PAHILELA MANUS by People's Theatre Association.
