Budding playwrights felicitated by Sahitya Kala Parishad...

The Mohan Rakesh Samman Arpan Aivam Natya Samaroh, the annual festival which recognizes budding talent in the field of Hindi theatre is being held at the Shri Ram Centre Auditorium, Mandi House, New Delhi. The five day festival will showcase plays selected through the All-India competition organized by the Sahitya Kala Parishad, the cultural wing of the Delhi Government.
Gayatri Arya, the playwright of HARIYA THA, HAI...SHAYAD RAHEGA was bestowed the first prize worth Rs. 25,000/. Kumar Sanjay won the second prize worth Rs. 15,000 for EK KAROR while Yogesh Tripathi, who has written KESHV LEELA RAM RANGEELA secured the third position with the prize money worth Rs. 10,000. Also, two consolation prizes worth Rs. 7,000/ were given to Rishikesh Vaid's USKE BAAD and Rasbihari Dutt's RAAG-DROH.
The winners received the awards from the chief guest Keshav Chandra, Special secretary (Art, Culture and Languages) of Delhi government. Since 1982, the Mohan Rakesh Samman Arpan Aivam Natya Samaroh has been organised every year. The competition provides a platform for playwrights in Hindi Theatre. According to Shekhar Vaishnavi, Secretary, Sahitya Kala Parishad, "The Mohan Rakesh Samman Arpan Aivam Natya Samaroh, is one of its kind, which discovers and promotes notable works in the area of Hindi playwriting. This year too we have selected some sensitive plays which focus on contemporary issues. We are so excited about embarking on this process of working closely with all the groups."
Prize-winning play HARIYA THA...SHAYAD RAHEGA, directed by Surendra Sharma, founder of Rang Saptak, was staged after the award ceremony. The play is about the the hardships faced by farmers in India.
