In honor of Pandit Pandharinath Krishnarao Kolhapure, the incredible Rudra Veena and Indian music concert is being presented by the Veena Vardayani Trust, Shivangi Kapoor, Padmini Kolhapure, and Tejaswini Kolhapure, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts (IGNCA) and Mumbai Theatre Guide.

This Indian Musical concert will be take place on February 16, 2024 from 6 pm onwards at the Veda Kunba Theatre, Mumbai.

The Rudraveena, existed in India for the past eight centuries, has been played in royal courts and patronised by Kings, particularly in Alwar, Baroda, Jaipur, and Udaipur.

However, in recent times, it has faced a decline in popularity due to factors like loss of patronage, economic demands impacting learning interest, industrialization, lifestyle changes, and the rise of modern music. While many traditional crafts, like galvanizing brass utensils, are disappearing, the Indian musical art lineage has managed to survive, thanks to the persistent efforts of musicians and audiences.

Veena Vardayani Trust, founded in 2000, strives to preserve the Rudraveena and Indian music tradition through various events, both offline and online, contributing to artistes and organisations especially during challenging time, with the aim of reinstating the glory of Indian cultural heritage.
