The Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Kala Kendra is the Cultural and Art wing, devoted to the development of Indian Dance, Music, Literature and other Performing Arts. The ex-students of the Bharatiya Natya Shikshapeeth (Academy of Acting & Direction) have taken the initiative to organise the 'Bhausaheb Hindi Ekanki Natya Spardha' for amateur theatre groups.
Girish Desai, lovingly known as Bhausaheb was a renowned thespian of the Gujarati stage. He however encouraged English as well as Hindi theatre. It is in his memory that the students organized the Hindi One-Act Play competition. 25 theatre groups participated in the 9th year of this competition. The Final round is scheduled for 31st March 2012 at the Bhartiya Vidya Bhavan, Chowpatty at 4 pm.
