Integration is a key word for the Create Foundation, which was started in the loving memory of Pearl Padamsee as a public charitable trust on April 8, 2002. From its inception CREATE (Children's Research in Education Arts and Theatre Endowment) has worked on projects that integrate children from mainstream schools with children from less privileged and challenged backgrounds.
The Create Trophy For Artistic Excellence, is in its 3rd year (the inaugural event of which was held in 2009) and children from several NGOs have been invited to participate and compete for the trophy. The Pearl Padamsee Trophy For Excellence in Speech and Drama is in its 8th year and several children from mainstream schools will participate and compete for the trophy.
Both the events will be held at the National Gallery of Modern Art's auditorium (NGMA), Kala Ghoda, Mumbai on December 15 and 16 respectively.
The theme is ''Be a part of the Change'' wherein the children from the NGOs will put together any performance piece they like around this idea. The mainstream school children will perform an elocution piece on this topic. Both the contests will be judged by a panel of personalities such as Shazahn Padamsee, Ayesha Sayani, Dalip Tahil, Farid Currim and Nandini Sardesai.
