The Experimental Theatre Foundation is performing - 5 one act plays in its 1st phase of
“ Mumbai Natya Utsav” from 29-30 January 2008 at Keshav Gore Smarak Trust in Goregoan (W). This 1st phase “Mumbai Natya Utsav” is a part of ETF’s National Theatre Festival on completion of 15 years of “Theatre of Relevance”.
On 29 January “Mumbai Natya Utsav” will be opened by a performance of ETF’s well known play “ Door Se Kisi Ne Awaaz Di”. Written after the Bombay riots of 1992-1993, this play is a plea for communal Harmony. This play has been performed successfully more than 1000 times on stage. It will be followed by “ Mera Bachpan”, “ Main Aurat Hoon”, “ Collage” and “Laadli”.
Alongside the performances, there will be discussions on “Theatre of Relevance” by people like Vishwanath Sachdev, Feroz Ashraf, Ramesh Rajhans, Ruma Bhaduri Sen Gupta, Babli Rawat, Rajkumar Kamle, Rajam Natrajan, Anuja Gulati and the young theatre performer, Naresh Kanti Chavan On this occasion ETF will also felicitate its dedicated performers.
Since 1992 ETF has been involved with the “Theatre of Relevance”. It has dealt with issues ranging from economic reforms & globalization to domestic violence and unemployment. The passionate young, adult & child performers living in different parts of India are the reliable resource of ETF. These performers have immensely contributed in terms of performance, dedication and commitment to build this organisation.

DOOR SE KISINE AWAAZ DIWritten after the Bombay riots of 1992-1993, this play is a plea for communal harmony, as well as a scathing indictment of a system where opportunists manipulate religious sentiments for political ends. Eventually it is the common man who becomes a helpless pawn in the unscrupulous machinations of the power of politics.
MAIN AURAT HOONIs an exploration of " Who am I"----------- a plunge into the tide of time across the land to " Womanhood -- the anguish & power, the strength & vulnerability of womanhood."
MERA BACHPANThis play explores the issue of child abuse (Labour) and exploitation in its varied manifestations. The play has been performed several times in different Indian languages. It has been instrumental in the rehabilitation of 50,000 child labourers across India.
