IN BETWEEN - A contemporary Gujarati Drama to premiere in Mumbai

Producer Trupti Thakkar and director Ankit Gor are all set to premiere their forthcoming Gujarati romantic-comedy drama IN BETWEEN on Saturday, July 1 2023 in Mumbai.

"I was waiting for a romantic comedy play about relationships, and the play IN BETWEEN suits the same as this play is about modern relationships," said Ankit Gor, the director. "As a curator for the 2019 Ahmedabad Theatre Festival, I was interested in expanding the one-act play IN BETWEEN into a longer production because the plot seemed intriguing. As soon as Trupti Thakkar joined the team as a producer, we decided to extend the one-act play."

He continued by outlining the history of IN BETWEEN and how fe chose actors Jaini Shah and Pratik Sharma. "Jaini and I had previously collaborated, so when I asked her to play the female lead in IN BETWEEN, it worked out. I've known Pratik for a very long time, and I've seen a few of his plays. His work and voice seem to be quite interesting, and I think they'll fit the character in IN BETWEEN."

Trupti Thakkar, the producer, was also spoken to by Team Mumbai Theatre Guide. "IN BETWEEN is about a young couple leaving Mumbai on their own terms. But their relationship takes a turn for the worse when their landlord, a representative of society, shows up unexpectedly one night. How do they resolve it? for which you must witness IN BETWEEN."

Ankit Gor expresses his enthusiasm for IN BETWEEN. "I've never presented a large project in front of an audience in Mumbai, so I'm equally nervous and excited about it. How the play will be appreciated by the Mumbai audience is completely unknown to me.

Watch out for the premiere on 1st July 2023 at Tejpal Auditorium.
