The Colossus That Was Bapurao Naik

Regular visitors at our house were Datto Waman Potdar who stayed with us when in Mumbai, Tarkateerth Laxmanshastri Joshi, Na Ra Phatak, A Ka Priolkar, Govardhan Parikh, Me Pu Rege, Ra Bha Patankar, Vinda Karandikar, Kavi Anil, Kusumagraj, Kavi Yashwant, Ga Di Madgulkar, Va La Kulkarni, P.L. Deshpande, Da Ga Godse, Dnyaneshwar Nadkarni, Damoo Kenkre, Vijaya, M.V. Rajadhyaksha, Nanasaheb Phatak, K. Narayan Kale, N.S. Bendre, K.K. Hebbar, among others.

My father Bapurao died on 31st December 1985. Thirty-four years ago.

And thus, I pay my respects to my father, my guru in printing and theatre, and my friend.

My wife Meena, my brother Rajeev, my daughters Shariva and Manava have assisted me in this venture. I thank them. I also thank Seema Arolkar, a close associate in my earlier ventures, for preparing the visual material. I thank Dr. Bal Bhalerao (Dr. Amrut Narayan Bhalerao’s son) for giving me this opportunity to begin the centenary under the auspices of the Sahitya Sangh. I also thank Mr. Subhash Bhagwat and Ms. Kirtikar for helping with the arrangements.

Thank you for giving me a patient hearing.
