(Arun Naik, Bapurao Naik's elder son speaks at the Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh kickstarting Bapurao Naik's centenary year celebrations).
Also, during this sojourn in England, the Sahitya Sangh had constructed the open-air theatre and the annual seasonal festival was held here. Except for the monsoon months the activity was continuous. Dr Bhalerao had already started dreaming about a fully closed theatre.
Dr Bhalerao wrote to my father in London and asked him to study theatre architecture with a view to design a permanent closed theatre in Kelewadi. Bapurao did just that. He says in his article that he mastered this subject, collected plans, attended drama courses, spoke to equipment people. Dr Bhalerao wrote very long letters very frequently and my father sent long replies. These letters are now in the NCPA archives.
