Anand Mhasvekar, RIP

Marathi playwright, poet, producer and director, Anand Mhasvekar passed away on October 13, at the age of 70.

Born in Mhasve village of Satara district, he worked with the State Bank Of India for many years before devoting himself to writing. He wrote about 40 plays, that include U TURN, KATHA, JODI JAMI TUJHI MAJHI, GODFATHER, AANI ACHANAK, FIFTY FIFTY, SASU NUMBER ONE, DHARMAKAND to name a few.

He was awarded the Zee Natya Gaurav Best Writer Award in 2009 for his play U TURN, among other awards like Best Writer by Mumbai Marathi Sahitya Sangh and Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Natya Parishad.

He is survived by his wife and two children. MTG conveys heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.
