This five-day, 30- hour intensive clowning workshop is designed to help you dive directly into the craft of clowning and gain a deeper insight into the state of clowning.

The words "clown," "fool," "idiot," "stupid," and "eccentric" (meaning "away from the center") are often used interchangeably, but does clowning mean behaving like a stupid person? NO! A BIG NO!
Then what?

This workshop offers an inward journey with tools and techniques, a bit of history, and a little philosophy of clowning that can help you access your own idiotic, foolish nature and bring forth your own unique clown.

As Lucille Ball once said, "I'm not funny. What I am is brave."
Got you thinking?
If a quiet pause brings a "yes" to your heart, then read on to learn more about the workshop.

History and theory of Clowning

Meet Amruta, India's only recipient of the prestigious '.Julie Goell Eccentric Woman Scholarship' USA in not one, but two glorious years, 2019 and 2022. She was also a fellow of the 'Rangsetu' Fellowship Maharashtra for 2021-22.

This interdisciplinary artist is a clown, a theater maker, creative coach, and photography enthusiast. She earned a Masters in Dramatic Arts, Mumbai University, Graduated in Physical Theater from Greece, certified in Neuro Linguistic Programming, and trained in Dance Movement Therapy.

Amruta also has engaged in in-depth and rigorous studies in:
  • Intercultural Approach to Psychophysical Acting with Phillip Zarrilli (UK)
  • Eccentric Performing with Avner "the Eccentric" Eisenberg (USA) History and Diverse Cultural Context of Clowning with Barnaby King (USA)
  • History, Theory and Analysis of Clown with Jon Davison (UK)
  • Clowning for relief in crisis zones and Hospitals with Susie Wimmer (Germany)
These areas influence everything she does. Amruta is basically a Renaissance Woman. And this marks her 10th year of Clowning.

As a pedagogue and a facilitator, she's not just passing on skills; she's nurturing a new generation of thought-provoking, boundary-pushing, stereotype-smashing clowns. And she does it all by holding space for her participants to explore, experiment, and, most importantly, to laugh-both at themselves and with each other, free from judgment and full of potential.

So, if you're looking for someone to make you laugh while questioning life's absurdities and learn this art form, Amruta's your gal!
