Theatre Speaks

Dharmesh Vyas New

"I would firstly say that this industry is not as easy as it seems. Theatres are a full time job and the one who is doing it for time pass should quit. It's a full time activity and you have to devote yourself completely to it along with lots of hard work. And those who think that they will become stars in a fortnight should better quit with theatres and look out for something else! But at the same time there's tremendous scope for those who are hardworking and serious about theatres."

"Dramas is my Dharma. here Dharma means victory of truth. In each & every story of films, T.V. serials & dramas the end of the story is happy & truth is the winner. It means victory of our Dharma in the story. I took it as a Dharma & I teach same to my PVD student & Bhartiya Vidhya Bhavan Kala Kendra's student to follow the path of truth. Dharma is behaviour of your towards your work, if your behaviour is not good towards dramas then you will not be able to became good artist. "

"Theatre to me means different aspects of the life. We always try to find out different subjects, whether it is sad, comedy, melodrama, but there always is some dramatic part into it and we work on that. Now whatever place we are using for performing dramas is called Rangbhoomi. Every drama artist always tries to give the best. But you cannot expect good plays without having good concept or producer or production house. If a writer is good than we can't say that play would be a hit because its a team effort and everyone is responsible from director to producer to technicians."

Aliraza Naamdar
Actor & Director
[Gujarati Theatre]

"Theatre is the source through which different colours of life are reached to the masses. Theatre is not just entertainment, it is something from which the message should be grabbed and learned. I am not satisfied with the present scenario of the Gujarati Rangbhoomi, but it is not that the situation is very grim or very gloomy. People are doing experiments with the subject and they are trying different forms. The new artists are doing well but should do hard work and should be patient and maintain consistency. "

Actor & Producer
[Gujarati Theatre]

"Yes, it is right that the contents which are available in Marathi theatre are not available in Gujarati theatre to that level because Gujarati theatre is absolutely commercial theatre. We think about audience more but I feel that Gujarati theatres are equally good. Earlier ideas from Marathi plays were taken in Gujarati, but now it's wrong to say so. Though, it should be accepted that Marathi theatres do try to bring new ideas. They do hard work on their job. Their audience is also very appreciative. "
