The highlights this week:
Interview with Yuki Ellias whose play THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM has been nominated for seven awards at the Mahindra Excellence In Theatre Awards (META) this year.
META begins in Delhi this weekend and over six days, 10 plays will be performed. These 10 plays have been nominated after screening over 300 entries from across the country and feature a mix of diverse theatre in different languages. The festival’s ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ will be given to the very committed and dedicated theatre veteran Arun Kakade of Awishkar.
NCPA Zest! – a platform dedicated to youth theatre will stage THE MULE’S FOAL, performed by the students of the Drama School Mumbai (DSM) early next week. The production has been directed by Puja Sarup and Sheena Khalid. The latter has just been awarded a Fellowship in memory of Vijay Tendulkar and Satyadev Dubey by the Sahitya Rangabhoomi Pratishthan Trust at a function that took place ahead of the Vinod Doshi theatre festival in Pune. Other awardees are Faezeh Jalali, Bharavi, Ajeet Singh Palawat, and Ashish Pathode.
