MADHLYA BHINTI

This important play, written by Vijay Tendulkar in 1958, is being revived after 55 years. It is based on the life of a middle class family that lives in small room. Nana the father works in the press as a proof reader and can hardly make both ends meet. Sada is the eldest son and another earning member, while the second son, Prabha is unemployed and the youngest son Datta is a chool going student. Sada promises his mother Parvati that he will marry Shalini the fair looking girl from a rich family whom Parvati wants him to marry. The turmoil begins when instead of doing as he promised Sada marries Manda, an ordinary girl whom he loves. Tensions start building in the family as Nana the father cannot bear the turmoil and dies. What happens to the family thereafter is to be seen on the stage and to be experienced.
