Habba Khatoun or Zoon was a poet from the 16th century. The tale of Zoon is fascinating as she married Kashmir's last indigenous king – Yusuf Shah Chak. He was robbed off his realm by the Mogul conqueror Akbar. Akbar flouted Yusuf's peace agreement with himself and placed Yusuf under a fraudulent arrest.

Zoon / Habba Khatoun had a choice. However she refused to join Yusuf in his exile. She pined for Yusuf but declined to leave Kashmir. Why would Zoon decide to pine but not join Yusuf?

Was that love for her country, or was she trying to push home a point?
