The play is inspired from Ramdhari Singh Dinkar's timeless classic poem Rashmirathi and based on the last two days of Karna's life during the Mahabharata war. It deals with his eternal quest of knowing: Who is he? How does this affect the people close to him? It questions Karna's inner conflict between his promise to his mother Kunti and loyalty to his friend Duryodhana.
The play also tries to explore the impact of war on people from different sections of society from king to servant - of their take on war, their desires, dreams, anger and their changing relationships.
