The Indian Drama and Entertainment Academy (IDEA)�s latest play concerns women and the different problems that they have to encounter in a regressive and oppressive society. The title could not have been more self-evident.

In its penchant for turning bits of news into high drama (melodrama?), IDEA�S new play thus looks at a multitude of issues concerning women such as prostitution, teen sex, early marriage, rape, etc. Wonder what women activists, theorists and scholars would have to say to see such weighty and important issues being reduced to generalizations and possibly stereotypes?
