On the 13th day of the Kurukshetra war, the Kaurava general, Dronacharya, has arrayed his forces in the formation of the chakravyuha which is steadily advancing upon the Pandavas. Upon being beckoned by his uncle, the Pandava King Yudhishthir, Arjun's 16 year old son Abhimanyu leads the attack into the chakravyuha. But fatefully he is isolated inside it as the gate keeping warrior, the Sindhu King Jaydrath, manages to hold back the rest of the Pandava army outside it. Abhimanyu is compelled to face the cruel onslaught of the Kauravas all by himself. He manages gallantly but is killed.
His bereaved family deeply mourns his death. A profoundly grief-stricken Arjun is brought back to his senses by Lord Krishna's pearls of wisdom and he vows to avenge Jaydrath.
