BESHARAM KA PAUDHA is a solo interactive theatre piece by Rajesh Nirmal based on real life events that are deeply connected to several people, living and dead.
This piece stands like a bridge between the lived experiences of the performer from his village and from his city. Rajesh brings these two far-apart worlds together through stories, games, clothes, and anecdotes as he navigates his way through the daily realities of the caste-based society in India. To survive this society, to break out of its shackles, and to dare to be more than his mere accident of birth, he has lived his life as the very Besharm ka Paudha that people in the village and cities keep uprooting and throwing away. Much like the stubborn plant, Rajesh refuses to be uprooted and unabashedly places his life experiences on stage with the same force with which society tries to hide and cover such lives and their realities.
