Ajaatshatru is an adaptation of celebrated Norwegian playwright Henrik Ibsen’s famous play An Enemy of the People. Ibsen is considered the father of modern drama and the adaptation in Hindi is written by Ila Arun.

The play focuses on the burning problem of environmental disasters including air and water pollution that confronts us today. The play highlights the dangers of a lack of social responsibility and reckless business interests that purposely camouflage the problem for personal gain. It explores these issues through a conflict between two brothers. One is an enlightened doctor conscious of his medical and social responsibilities but unfortunately in the minority while the other is a businessman and politician who is supported by the ignorant and powerful majority.
