Gopal has been married to Laxmi for 10 years and has two beautiful kids. Gopal is a simple, honest man having Indian traditional values. Gopal is living in a home which he bought by securing a home loan and is paying a monthly installment for it. One day Gopal loses his job due to recession, and after a few months he gets another job. His reduced salary however is unable to meet the home loan demands and the recurring expenses of running a household. Gopal has a life insurance policy of 50 lakhs and decides to commit suicide so that his wife and children can live a good life. The play transforms into a comedy when Gopal decides to commit suicide. The play has been adapted by Jitendra Ghete from Pratap Sehgal's original play MAUT KYON RAAT BHAR NAHI AATI.
