A hunderd and fifty years ago, a Gujarati journalist from Mumbai called Karsandas Mulji exposed sexual scandals of a Hindu seer Maharaj Jadunath. MAHARAJ is an effort to address that ongoing problem: sexual molestation of women by men of religious power. With the support of eminent personalities such as the poet Narmad, business tycoon Gokaldas Tejapal, entrepreneur Lakhmidas Khimji and Dr. Bhau Daji, Karsandas boldly and openly advised the rich and the powerful in the Havelis to abstain from hurting the religious sentiments of lakhs of Vaishnavs and work towards strengthening people's belief in religion.
