She emotionally blackmails her son, Nisarg Setalvad, who is also an extremely successful lawyer to marry this simpleton, who is only educated upto the 11th std. Nisarg does not believe in the institution of marriage and on the very first night makes it clear to his wife, who is left completely at a loss of words. But the girl does not want to pain her in-laws and hence keeps smiling and makes them smile too.
The parents however feel responsible for spoiling her life and therefore they give in to her request of allowing her to help her father-in-law with the social work. Thus begins Vasundhara's new chapter in life. She helps her father-in-law and stumbles upon a curious case of a village maid called Jamna Bharvad, who has requested her father-in-law to file a case against CGE & S to give her four times more the money for her house and property. Mahesh Setalvad finds this very unreasonable and asks Jamna to leave home, letting her know that her greed is no good. But Vasundhara finds this whole thing very unnerving because she has also seen Jamna always mentioning her ill health and the expenses needed to look after herself and her husband.
Vasundhara decides to meet Jamna at Pipali village and much to her shock finds out that CGE&S releases a chemical waste in the water which has contaminated it. From there on Vasundhara decides to support Jamna and the other villagers.
