Wayside Inn (which Babasaheb Ambedkar frequented) may be 'permanently closed' & bilingual poet Arun Kolatkar may have passed on. But his poetry in Marathi (Chirimiri, Bhijki Vahi) & English (Sarpasatra) haunts us. Theatre offers its safe space where a corner table for poetry is created, show after show, city after city. His English work, largely Jejuri forms the spine of the piece, preceding with his early Marathi poems & a brief glimpse into his swansong – the Kala Ghoda poems. To quote from Amit Chaudhri’s review in The Guardian, ‘Kolatkar deserves to be as well-known as Salman Rushdie’.
