Conditions Apply is a frenzied and comical play in English, representing the high stress and frustrations of daily life in the big city. We are a part of a man and a woman's shared nightmare of modern life and the isolation it creates.
The woman is vocal, passionate and completely 'out there', spinning in the middle of nowhere, wondering why no one can understand her. The man is insecure, pessimistic and withdrawn, someone who mostly prefers to stick his head in a dune of sand, pretending to be invisible to the rest of the world. From her battles of choosing the right noodles for dinner to his desperate cliches of self-affirmation he learns at his ''personality workshop,'' they run the scope of everyday life's small brutalities. Neither of them is happy with their lives, but both hope for a brighter tomorrow, a sense of direction and a reason to live. One day, their paths cross in an unexpected way giving them a chance to change their lives, but for that they may have to overcome their very existence. Both characters are 'uniquely' entertaining with their hilarious, yet striking observations of life and people.
Mandira Bedi and Darshan V. Jariwalla play these two seemingly neurotic yet normal individuals, who like all of us, are trying to come to terms with their lives, each one coping in their own quirky way and maybe with a little success.
