The play, Boy with a Suitcase, unfolds through the story-telling and narrative of the young protagonist Naz as he makes his way to the proverbial land of "milk and honey", to find his sister and a "better life".
As a young child, Naz was put on a bus by his parents and sent off on what would turn out to be a long and often treacherous journey away from his home and family. But on the way he is guided by his mother's stories of Sinbad the Sailor. He meets the charming Krysia and together they make their way through desert and mountain, a sweat-shop, the ocean and finally reach their destination. But is it the "heaven on earth" of his sister's postcard?
This tale of humour and adventure by well known British playwright Mike Kenny is filled with the colours of the human spirit. Bravery, compassion, fear and love come together in a story that has a very true context: the 21st century reality of children who must leave their homes, sometimes from poverty and sometimes from war.
