HANUMAN KI RAMAYAN is based on an original short story by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, published by Tulika books. Dr. Pattanaik's story has been adapted in swang-nautanki form. It is a part of theatre group, Gillo's series of short performances for young audiences, using various theatrical forms. The nautanki adaptation and music have been done by Pt. Ram Dayal Sharma. The Hindi translation is by Dr. Devendra Sharma.

Valmiki has barely put his pen down after completing his magnificent creation, the epic Ramayan, when he realises he has competition. The sage Narad tells him that there is a better Ramayan, written by Hanuman. Valmiki is devastated! And when Hanuman sees Valmiki so upset, what does he do?
