Prithvi Festival 2013

In its 35th year, the Prithvi Festival will stage 15 productions along with a number of other events from November 5 to 18 2013. The highlights are:

  • 28 performances of 15 productions inspired, and/or adapted from classics and masterpieces

  • 10 Premier Shows, 4 "Firsts" at Prithvi, 1 revival.

  • 1 Western Classical Concert presented by NCPA/Symphony Orchestra of India

  • 2 acoustic Sunday Jams followed by Sunday Brunch at Prithvi Cafe - a unique and rare experience of live and purely acoustic music in an intimate space.

  • And introducing, the first series of StageTalk@Prithvi - 8 interactive interviews with eminent theatre directors discussing their work, and their journey in Theatre - open to all.

  • The Kolkata-based group Padatik will stage Mahesh Elkunchwar's AATMAKATHA. A great opportunity to watch actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda on stage.

  • Director Mahmood Farooqui will present DASTANGOI along with his group.

  • Motley will present DEAR LIAR with Naseeruddin Shah and Ratna Pathak Shah.

  • The Pondicherry-based theatre company Adishakti will present HANUMAN RAMAYANANA and THE TENTH HEAD.

  • Manoj Shah of Ideas Unlimited will present MASTER MADAM based on the Sanskrit play BHAGAVADAJJUKAM.

  • Bijon Mondal of Ranga Theatre presents RASHOMON BLUES based on Akira Kuroswa's classic film Rashomon.

  • Lalit Kala Kendre from Pune presents RINGAN based on Bertolt Brecht's THE CAUCASIAN CHALK CIRCLE.

  • Feroz Abbas Khan presents SALESMAN RAMLAL, the Hindi adaptation of Arthur Miller's classic. Satish Kaushik plays Salesman Ramlal.

  • Hidayat Sami directs UMRAO with lyrics by Nida Fazli, Niranjan Iyengar, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah and musical compositions by Rekha Bhardwaj.

  • Rajit Kapur directs Tennessee William's THE GLASS MENAGERIE.
