The Indian Premiere of Jonh Donnelly's BONE At Prithvi Theatre

Raaghav Chanana will direct John Donnelly�s critically acclaimed drama, �BONE�, which opened to packed houses and had a sold out run at the Royal Court Theatre, London, in September 2004.
BONE marks the Mumbai directorial debut of actor, Raaghav Chanana. Raaghav appeared most recently in Lillete Dubey�s KANYADAN and Sunil Shanbag�s TUREL and has previously directed a sold-out production of Patrick Marber�s CLOSER, the widely acclaimed award winning play on sexual politics and desire in modern relationships, for the British Council in New Delhi in December 2005. He made his West End debut in August 2004, after being picked from an open audition, as Sebastian in Shakespeare�s TWELFTH NIGHT, which was directed by Stephen Beresford and staged for 10 weeks at London�s Albery Theatre. BONE is also the debut production of his theatre company, Fly On The Wall Productions.

The production will feature Hari Mini Bala as �Jamie�, Zafar Karachiwala as �Stephen� and Sujata Kumar as �Helen�. The creative team also includes Lighting and Set Designer Dhanendra Kawade (�End Of Season�, �Annoyance�, �Manaskhor�, �Tukra�s Dream�). The play is produced by Aparna Upadhyaya and Raaghav Chanana.

A Note about the Playwright:
Celebrated British playwright John Donnelly, who has been described by the Evening Standard as �a blackly comic Quentin Tarantino-style voice for modern theatre�, is a graduate of the Royal Court Young Writers Programme and represented the Theatre at World Interplay Young Writers Festival 2003 in Australia. Post �Bone�, he has churned a string of highly successful plays, which include �Songs Of Grace And Redemption� (Liminal Theatre, Theatre 503), �Heat And Light� (Hampstead Theatre), �Exotica� (Present Tense, Nabokov Theatre) and �Finally The Girl� (Old Red Lion), which was presented by the award-winning Fervour Collective. His other plays include �There� (Royal Court, dir. Janette Smith), �Sex and Death�, which won the Sunday Times Playwriting Award and the PMA Writer/Director Award (Leeds, NSDF Scarborough, Edinburgh), �Personal Matters� (Leeds, BAC), and �Prospect� (a short film), as well as writing for television. He is currently working under commission to Hampstead Theatre/Neal Street Productions and has just completed an attachment at the National Theatre Studio.
